Detective Comics #1027
Blowback
Great dialogue, I like the way we get a glimpse of the history by Batman thinking through what he’s dealt with over the years.
The Master Class
Classic Bendis dialogue which was fun enough to follow but the specific plot/case was pretty poor.
Many Happy Returns
Might be my favorite drawn Zdarsky issue (other than his Daredevil radar sense one.) Good concept.
Rookie
Good inside look at the GCPD corruption.
Ghost Story
Didn’t interest me but a fairly classic Batman team up.
Fore
There’s been much better stories paralleling Bruce and Batman and people thinking Bruce is the opposite of all the things he actually is. Felt this was a somewhat boring depiction of that.
Odyssey
Story didn’t interest me, but at the same time it felt like it was trying.
Detective #26
Did Batman scare him? Mog him? Unfortunately I loved the art but felt the through line was almost nothing. So much setup and I know the bubble burst is the point but it doesn’t even feel like a big moment or flip.
Legacy
King killed Batman here (not in the way most people would think.) That constant want to help others and pure selflessness is something that is hard for a lot of writers to nail, but it’s done perfectly here. Reminded me of BTAS.
As Always
I don’t know if cute is the right word, but cute. Love that constant unrelenting spirit. When the world seems like it’s about to end he turns it to just a black rooster.
Generations: Fractured
Interesting start but really doing tie-in type stuff in a 1,000 ISSUE SPECIAL??? Companies always do too much
A Gift
All-Star lineup. I don’t like these unfulfilled whatever, these leftovers being thrown around here. The artists here did the best they could but it feels so halfhearted.
