Supergirl Special (2023)

 Supergirl Special (2023)

Pretty gorgeous art. The colors are just unreal. That mixed with the introspection reminded me of Superman: For All Seasons. Thought it was touching to get into a look at Kara’s state of mind thinking back to when her life was “normal,” but when the ball was really rolling the issue ended. Definitely could have expanded this to three issues, but a solid special still.

Issue #1 Interesting to see how the different Brood factions operate. One that just wants to kill all they can and propagate and one that seeks to protect the Queen and maintain a hierarchy. Hannah is a tragic character.  Issue #2 Decent special. I liked some of the writing like Wolverine being God’s strangest angel, but some of the religious elements felt too melodramatic when there could have been a real connection to the faith of the characters compared to the trials they were put through. Pretty good prose, rough dialogue.
