Human Defense Corps

 Issue #1

Started off slow, text and exposition heavy, but picked up by the end. Loved that against these powerful forces that he ended up being a one in three, a bad solider. And he turned into "a cartoon soldier." It was a pretty great flip on expectations. Hope more is done moving forward.

Issue #2

This is cute. This is fun. I like the look of different average joe characters put in these military/alien scenarios. I thought my guy was about to kill his friend halfway through, that would have been crazy. It's also cool seeing Lex in the background doing his suspicious government work. This series does a good job of making the DC Universe feel lived in.

Issue #3

I am super unfamiliar with these aliens. Were they created for this? The presence they have influencing the plot even after issue #1 is wonderful.

Issue #4

Not much to say for this one. Nice, but the direction of the plot felt a little weak here. The execution just didn't wow me. I didn't feel like much was revealed about the soldiers or that we got an interesting look into their lives with dealing with aliens and how that interacts with their morals/personalities.

Issue #5

I feel like we could/should have gotten into Taylor's head more before he lost it and got himself killed. Bad time to be a one in three during that ending there.

Issue #6

It feels like this took a very specific plot-driven turn that was slightly detached from the premise. I'm kind of disappointed about that not gonna lie. Still good overall. Telling how the mission concluded in the form of an interview was an interesting choice, but I don't think it ended up adding much other than having a different presentation. I really liked how all of it tied into hesitation and the one in three statistic, which was the inciting reason for Kelly to join the HDC.
