Batman: War on Crime

Love seeing Batman fight crime on two fronts. Also love the way Alex Ross draws Batman with a furrowed brow visible from his cowl and deeply emotive eyes. The colors are also gorgeous, matching each setting as it needs to. The use of blues, especially in the intro was just great. In many ways your typical Batman tale, but his empathy towards young Marcus mixed with Ross' art made for some powerful moments. "Don't become what killed our families." Perfect.

X-Men vs The Brood

Issue #1 Interesting to see how the different Brood factions operate. One that just wants to kill all they can and propagate and one that seeks to protect the Queen and maintain a hierarchy. Hannah is a tragic character.  Issue #2 Decent special. I liked some of the writing like Wolverine being God’s strangest angel, but some of the religious elements felt too melodramatic when there could have been a real connection to the faith of the characters compared to the trials they were put through. Pretty good prose, rough dialogue.
