Beta Ray Bill
Beta Ray Bill Issue #1
"I am not blind." Brutal. The muted colors really emphasis the tragic nature of Bill's struggle with his self-worth. DWJ is fantastic at contextualizing these alien creatures and atmosphere into human experiences, which is on full display here. It's a struggle that Bill has never had to deal with, but introduced in a way that feels organic and continues to be organic throughout the next issues. This became essential reading for any Beta Ray Bill fan.
I'm not necessarily a fan of this whole new Bill changing appearance thing, but it doesn't hinder my enjoyment of this comic at all. It's utilized to great effect here at least.
Beta Ray Bill Issue #2
love bill's casual clothes. this issue gave good depth to modern odin
Beta Ray Bill Issue #3
the art is just...chef's kiss. nice sense of movement in the action
Beta Ray Bill Issue #4
seeing the body horror of bill's transformation really makes you more sympathetic to his insecurities.
Beta Ray Bill Issue #5
Heartbreaking. I absolutely love this ending. Despite outide validation, and even changing himself on the outside, his feelings still say the same. Such a meaningful note to end on.
