Are You Afraid of Darkseid?
Bloody Mary
- Great Darkseid is. moment. Not a very logic based story, but it was fairly interesting with Bloody Mary being an Apokoliptian tale, and her ending up with Mirror Master. Also really liked the art, gotta put Max Dunbar on my radar.
Backseat Killer
- Really boring, liked the art for the car/racing stuff.
Escape the Dark Fortress
- I love the Green Lantern mythos and John Stewart, and I think the writer just used this as a chance to write a cool John Stewart short story. Thank you for that. Love seeing his thoughts about the other Earth Lanterns and the inclusion of him being an architect. Easy favorite.
The Endless Sacrifice
- Really love the feel of the art and coloring. The writing was too wordy and asked for too much, having to care for each event for each page, but it’s good competent writing, with a nice concept. As a stand-alone short story, it would have probably worked better, but I definitely enjoyed this one. Didn’t expect a Bleedspace mention and cool tie into Batman’s origin. Second best.
Aquaman and Aqualad vs. The Ogopogo
- Not scary or interesting. Never been sold on Aquaman and this did not help.
Black-Eyed-Kids
- Not much depth to this story but a little interesting. Animals tapping into the Morphogenetic Field could be used for an entire Vixen/Animal Man arc. The humor didn’t feel too natural with Wonder Woman’s character, maybe if it was Animal Man or someone else, the team-up would have worked better or felt more interesting. Loved the inking.
The Cellar
- Disappointed by this one. The lack of expansion on what was going on made for such a dry read. I liked how this writer wrote Clark and Lois together though.
